IVAR filters and pressure reducing valves for water systems
IVAR filters and pressure reducing valves help protect downstream components from impurities and manage water pressure within plumbing and heating systems. The range includes the RDP 00 pressure reducer, FI 00 self-cleaning filters and FI 10 Y-filters for different filtration and pressure-control requirements.
Filters, Pressure Reducing Valves Products
Filtration and pressure control for water systems
IVAR filtration and pressure-control products are designed to help protect downstream components from impurities carried in the water supply and to maintain suitable operating pressure within the installation.
The range includes pressure reducing valves with integrated filtration, self-cleaning filters for easier routine maintenance and Y-filters for straightforward mechanical filtration in plumbing, heating and conditioning systems.
Which IVAR filtration or pressure-control product do you need?
RDP 00 Pressure Reducing Valve
A pressure reducing valve with an inspection filter on the inlet and two pressure gauges. The RDP 00 helps reduce and stabilise downstream water pressure while providing filtration at the inlet.
FI 00 Self-cleaning Filter
A brass self-cleaning water filter with inlet and outlet pressure gauges, removable filter cartridge and discharge cock. Designed to help protect downstream equipment from dirt carried within the water supply.
FI 10 Y-filter
A compact Y-strainer with stainless-steel filter cartridge and inspection plug, suitable for removing impurities from water in plumbing, heating and conditioning systems.
Choosing between a pressure reducer, self-cleaning filter and Y-filter
Reduce and stabilise pressure
The RDP 00 is designed where incoming water pressure needs to be reduced to a controlled downstream level. It combines pressure reduction with an inlet inspection filter and two pressure gauges.
The UK range includes 1/2″ and 3/4″ versions with an adjustable pressure range of 0.5 to 6 bar and a factory preset of 3 bar.
Filter with easier cleaning
The FI 00 self-cleaning filter is suited to applications where ongoing filtration and straightforward maintenance are required. Inlet and outlet pressure gauges allow the condition of the filter to be monitored, while accumulated dirt can be discharged through the drain.
The UK range is available from 1/2″ to 2″ with 100 µm filtration.
Simple mechanical filtration
The FI 10 Y-filter provides a simple method of trapping impurities before they accumulate in downstream components. The filter element can be accessed for cleaning through the inspection plug.
The current UK range includes 1 1/4″, 1 1/2″ and 2″ versions with 500 µm filtration.
Protecting downstream components
Filtering contaminants before they reach valves and other downstream equipment can help reduce the risk of dirt accumulating within the installation. Where both filtration and pressure reduction are required, IVAR recommends positioning the self-cleaning filter upstream of the pressure reducing valve.
On the FI 00, the inlet and outlet pressure gauges can also help indicate when the filter requires cleaning. A lower outlet pressure compared with the inlet can indicate that the cartridge is becoming restricted.
Filters and pressure reducing valve FAQs
What does a pressure reducing valve do?
A pressure reducing valve lowers incoming water pressure and maintains a controlled downstream pressure for the installation and equipment being supplied.
What is the difference between a self-cleaning filter and a Y-filter?
Both remove impurities from the water supply, but they provide different maintenance approaches. The FI 00 self-cleaning filter incorporates pressure gauges and a discharge cock for routine cleaning, while the FI 10 is a simpler Y-strainer with a removable filter cartridge accessed through an inspection plug.
How can you tell when the FI 00 self-cleaning filter needs cleaning?
The inlet and outlet pressure gauges can be compared. If outlet pressure becomes lower than inlet pressure, this can indicate that dirt is restricting the filter cartridge and cleaning is required.
Should a water filter be installed before a pressure reducing valve?
IVAR recommends installing the self-cleaning filter upstream of the pressure reducing valve so that dirt is removed before water reaches downstream pressure-control components.
