3 & 4 port rotor mixing valves
IVAR 3 and 4 port mixing valves are designed for mixing and distributing water within heating and cooling systems. Their rotary design provides a 90-degree operating stroke and the valves can be adjusted manually or automatically using a suitable motorised actuator.
The valve body and rotor are manufactured in brass. Compared with traditional cast-iron rotor valves, this construction helps reduce the risk of the rotor and body seizing after periods of inactivity while providing a more compact and lightweight valve.
Choosing between a 3 port and 4 port mixing valve
3 port mixing valves
A 3 port rotor mixing valve can be used for standard mixing and distribution applications. It can also operate as a diverter valve where required by the system design.
4 port mixing valves
A 4 port rotor mixing valve provides mixing on both the flow and return sides. This can be useful where management of the return temperature forms part of the heating-system design.
Manual or motorised control
IVAR rotor mixing valves can be manually adjusted or fitted with a motor for automatic control. The available M 106 motor options include 230 V 3-point regulation and 24 V proportional 0-10 V control.
IVAR mixing valve options
Both the 3 port and 4 port ranges are available in several connection sizes and flow coefficients, allowing the valve to be selected according to the hydraulic requirements of the system.
3 Port Rotor Mixing Valves
3-way rotor mixing valves with lateral mixing, available from 3/4″ to 2″ with a choice of Kv values from 4 to 44.
4 Port Rotor Mixing Valves
4-way rotor mixing valves available from 3/4″ to 2″, with multiple Kv options from 4 to 44 for different system flow requirements.
Motorised Heads
M 106 motors for IVAR rotor mixing valves, including 230 V 3-point regulation and 24 V proportional 0-10 V control options.
Designed for heating and cooling systems
IVAR rotor mixing valves are rated for a maximum operating temperature of 120°C and maximum operating pressure of 10 bar. Multiple Kv values are available within several connection sizes, helping designers and installers select the valve to suit the required system flow characteristics.

3 & 4 port mixing valve FAQs
What is a 3 port mixing valve used for?
A 3 port mixing valve can be used to mix or distribute flow within a heating or cooling system. IVAR’s 3-way rotor valves can also be used as diverter valves where required by the system design.
What is the difference between a 3 port and 4 port mixing valve?
A 3 port valve is typically used for mixing or diverting flow. A 4 port valve can provide mixing on both the flow and return sides of a heating circuit, making it suitable for system designs where return-water temperature also needs to be managed.
Can IVAR mixing valves be motorised?
Yes. IVAR rotor mixing valves can be manually controlled or used with a suitable motorised actuator. IVAR M 106 motorised heads are available with different control options.
